Super 8 Motel - Decorah

Clean room in a motel that looked like it hadn't been updated in about 10-15 years. Not that the place was decrepit, but the colors were dated, the mattress had seen better days, and some of the furniture creaked when you walked by. Not enough electrical outlets for modern life (laptops, MP3 players, etc.) either. The place seemed a bit understaffed; I'd say when we went by the front desk (at varying times), there was no one there more than half the time. The first night we were there, we heard the chirping of a smoke detector with a low battery. The next morning we mentioned it and were assured it would be fixed, but, that night, we discovered another smoke detector chirping. The front desk claimed it was the wireless access point making that noise. In years of working with WAPs I've never heard one chirp like that. The driveway needs better markings in driveway, very difficult to enter at night. Each day the maid parked the cart outside my room door, making it difficult to navigate my wheelchair into my room.

Overall cleanliness was alright. Friendly staff willing to work with you. Location was good.

The staff was very rude - one of our room keys didn't work and they would not give us a replacement. Garbage bags as curtains in the hallways, one set of vending machines not very well stocked and no ice machine. Toilet was about to rock off the floor when sat on - no one tighten the bolts - if I had the tools I would have fixed it. Super 8 provided everthing that we needed to make our weekend enjoyable and affordable. We found the room to be very clean and comfortable and the staff was very helpful in guiding us to a good restaurant in the area. ...read more

It was very easy to find and was very clean. Had plenty of bath towels and excellent service. The staff iwa very friendly and thoughtful.

Just allright the staff was very helpful

Very good value. We needed a quiet clean place to say while at a conference and didn't want to say in a college dorm. We were very happy and would likely stay there again if we were in the area.
